My dear galpal, Nan is a mushroom hunter, so on her last birthday I modified a buche de Noel for her cake. The "log" is chocolate cake with whipped ganache frosting. Mushrooms are meringue with cocoa sprinkled on top for dirt and melted chocolate painted on the bottom to simulate the gills.
