OMG did you nail it. This cake looks awsome. Would you mind sharing some detail on how you did it?

I don't mind at all. I used 8 inch rounds and then I split each layer into three thin layers. I put them in the freezer for just a few minutes to set up, then I iced each one in buttercream. I then covered each one with fondant. I then brushed each one with cocoa powder to give them a ":cooked look". I then took a tooth pick and poked holes in the edges so that they would look like the airbubbles and rubbed a little white buttercream on the edges. I made the butter out of vanilla mousse,.

And the syrup is made from thinned down piping gel.

Donna, these look so real, what color fondant did you use?
    DonnaOK 9/28/11 at 5:29am
Eva, I just used a touch of brown and a touch of yellow. Then I brushed them with cocoa powder to give the cooked look. When people started arriving before I left, they couldn't get over that it was a cake and not pancakes. HAHA! Thank you!
