Brittany wanted to replicate her wedding gown onto her cake. I hand stenciled in buttercream the lace pattern as the backgrown, then made all of the flowers and leaves from fondant.
Thank you Farmwife94. She used a hair comb in her hair to match her Maggie Sottero gown. So instead of replicating the large flowers on her dress, I used the hair comb as inspiration for the flowers.
It was actually in a veranda outside and it is sitting on top of an old piano and they used a tarp behind. My daughter shot this one, but the one I have from the wedding photog is even brighter, so it is hard to make out the details. That is the one bad thing about a white on white wedding cake with afternoon light ! :) .
Thank you ladies. I made the flowers by rolling out the fondant and then cutting wide strips. I then took a piece (say about 6 inches long) and took both ends and gathered them sort of accordian style and then I folded them over and pinched them together. I then made a "button" for the center by using a piece of fondant that I covered in white candy melt and then covering with pearls. Then I attached it all with edible glue that I make by putting a piece of fondant in a small cup of water and:
Thanks so much for explaining how you made the flowers. Hope you don't mind if I try these? I'm making my first grandaughter's wedding cake in a couple of weeks and if she loves them, I will try and make them if you don't mind. :)
Thank you everyone. Jan14, I don't mind one bit. I can even email you the picture of the hair comb if you want to send me a message to see what I used for inspiration!
