In community album: 2011 Awesome! Magical! Sweet! Cake Contest
I made this cake for my son's 9th birthday. The board the cake is on is 20"x30", so Toothless is roughly 20"x25". All of this dragon is made from cake except his legs and tail. I covered him in fondant and also used fondant for the details, including his wings which span approxiamately 25". The four clouds under Toothless are also cakes, and they are covered in buttercream icing. My son thought this was awesome, and I was happy that he loved it! :)

Love it! Did you use anything to reinforce the wings. I am making a HTTYD cake with Toothless and Hiccup for my daughter's birthday and decided to make a topper out of clay. I'm not brave enough to carve a dragon cake. Kudos to you for doing it wonderfully!

mrsorchdork - Thanks! :) I let the wings dry as much as possible, but I did end up needing to put a couple skewers in various places on the underside of each wing secured with fondant to help them not to fall or crack. They rested on the cloud cakes, so that helped some also. Good luck with your topper and cake! :)
