I had another design in mind, but after making all my flowers, I realized I didn't make enough for what I needed, hence this traditional Stacked Cake. Good thing they were happy with whatever I would make for them. Coordinated it with their Periwinkle and Royal Blue colors. All flowers were made of Gumpaste.

Nice cake and the flowers are beautiful!! I have been trying to make gumpaste flowers and the paste always seems so dry. What gum paste recipe do you use? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I used Nicholas Lodge's Tylose recipe, which you can find on his site, www.isac.com. I believe it's 4 egg whites, 12 tsp tylose powder and 2lbs of powdered sugar. This recipe does get a bit dry after you roll it several times, but it dries quick, which is good when molding petals... Thanks for the compliment ;-)

Beautiful cake! I couldn't get anything from that link for the gumpaste recipe. Is it the correct link? Your flowers are gorgeous! Just found it!! The link is www.nicholaslodge.com

Wonderful. You make so beautiful cakes. And nicholas lodge is a great man to learn from. Have a couple of his books.

Well from my Magnolia looking like roses in my Wilton cake (which is in my profile), I taught myself by observation. Wilton instructor never took the time to teach me well enough. I also went to a demo where Ron Ben-Israel demonstrated how to make one. I'm still practicing ;-) Thanks for your comments. Tip? Use toothpick to roll the edges of the petals
