Running Shoe Cake

A cake representing many firsts for me... my first "order" for my friend's husband's birthday... my first ever carved cake.. and my first time ever to use fondant (as is evident from various cracks etc! - Everyone said... oh but it just makes the shoe look authentically old! lol) All of the above made me at times, literally want to cry.. but it was all worth it when my friend came to pick up and said "OMG is that the cake or a shoe?" (it was based on her husband's favorite running shoe).
