Thanks Linda, the actual frosting of the cake happened fast, which was pleasing after the time spent with the gum paste elements.

This is the best 'tree' look I've seen. So realistic and LOVE the detail on the board...is that fondant? Because it almost looks like roughed up buttercream!! And the shells and leaves..., wow, great job. :D

Thanks Carm.. and Jenny.. The board is painted with royal icing. No fondant.I make a palette of Royal Icing colors and use a 1" bristle paint brush ? the kind you'd use for painting acrylics or oils. It's a fast and effective method.
