Hubby's Birthday Cake

Hubby's Birthday Cake on Cake Central

I made this cake for my husband's birthday. I took the Wilton I course last month and decided to practice what I learned. It turned out ok. Of course, I need a bit more practice on the roses (there's one that has 6 petals instead of 5, shhhh.... :o) ). The cake was pretty tasty. I made a white cake with strawberry mousse filling and buttercream frosting.

I think you did a wonderful job and your roses look awesome. Love how they open up. I'm on my second wilton class and still hate my roses. Also, I love the side of your cake. What an awesome idea!

I think you did a great job. The roses are very pretty...I've taken all three Wilton courses and still have not mastered roses.!

Thank you! Making roses is very tricky. I have to say, the more I make them, the more I find what I'm doing wrong and correct it. For instance, the bottom petals would always be touching the flower nail because I had no more room left. I found that if I start the inside of the rose a little higher, I don't have that problem. Hope that helps! :)

It looks great! It doesn't matter how many petals you put on the roses as long as you like the end result!
