The tree is made of green fondant, rolled into a cone shape with a small disc of cardboard under it for support. The "branches" are made by snipping the icing with scissors and then gently rolling each point out and up slightly

Thank you very much. The cake was just a mini cake, 4" round, so the angel was about 1" high, it was a Xmas gift for a single friend, just the right amount for one!
