Froggie Baby Shower Cake

Cake is classic white cake with 1/2 butter, 1/2 crisco buttercream. Flowers out of gumpaste, sign, frogs, blanket, butterflies, dragonflies and large flower on top made of fondant and decorated with pastel chalks. I got the idea for the frogs off of another users frog prince (I don't rememer her name though). So thank you! I was just disappointed on how UN-smooth the buttercream is. My friend told me to stop messing with it, cause she said everything else totally draws away from the flaws. :)

Thanks so much!! You've definitely made me feel better about this! We are our own worse critics huh? LOL... I love this cake..it was tons of fun! My 6 yr. old sat with me and "made frogs" while I made mine..she had a blast playing with the fondant. Thanks again!!

I love your cake! It has so much joy in it. Where did you get the pastel chalks to make such exquisite little creatures?

Thanks Carterl! I went to Hobby Lobby and got the pastel chalks. They are by the oil paint/coloring pencils area. Got a set of 48 for around $4.00.

Thanks susanscakebabies :). I kind of went overboard with the pics, but I was WAY excited about how it turned out. :) Lol..

Thanks tiny-dancer! I actually used very itty bitty pcs of fondant. I rolled a little ball, flatened it a bit stuck that on the baby's face...then made another itty bitty little ball and put that on top of the flattened pc. Then I painted them with food coloring. Note to self: paint BEFORE gluing them on the face. :)

dawng, thank you! As far as instructions go, hrmm...I'll have to think on that. This was kind of a "trial and error" creation. :) I'll look into possibly typing up a step by step.

Wow, that's lovely! Looks like a tropical water lily! :D Do you do anything to "seal" the pastel chalk onto the fondant? Does it ever come off on the cake?

Thank you so much for making such an adorable froggie! :D I made my own, using yours for inspiration! I'm a frog lover, and so is my friend I'm doing the baby shower cake for. Thanks again!! :D
