Four Tier Cameo Wedding Cake

This is my first wedding cake(s). I had to bring all of my pans, tools, and ingredients down to Florida from New Jersey for this cake. These cakes are hexagon shaped coverd in ivory rolled fondant with piped royal icing scrollwork. The cameos are made of fondant and were airbrushed. The flowers are silk. The cakes were yellow sponge cake with a chocolate gnache filling. I covered the cakes with buttercream icing before applying the fondant.

thank you! The fondant wasn't too hard to get smooth over the hexagon shape, you just have to make sure you don't have way to much excess hanging over the sides because the weight of it can cause the corners to rip. The Scissor Cake that I also have posted was much harder to get the fondant over.

thanks, fondant can be tricky with corners but this wasn't too bad. I just had to carefully smooth the fondant downward with my hands. It actually stretches it a little bit, but not noticeably.

Great job! I agree with aobodessa regarding the fountain not having any greenery or flowers; however, you didn't have the opportunity of time to do this. Great cakes .. you did an awesome job with the fondant over the corners!!

This is a very nice first effort. I would have liked to have seen something covering the base of the fountain, though. Wilton does make a cake ring with various patterns on it, or maybe you could have used live material (greens, flowers?). Otherwise, a very nice first effort.

I had planned to cover the fountain with the material ...but the room was so late being set up by the caterer I had to work quick...the guests were at the door waiting to get in :(
