Treasure chest cake for a sisters joint birthday party. This chocolate sponge cake measures 9" x 7" plus the lid is cake too. Iced and decorated in fondant with edible and plastic treasures. The sand and map is edible too.
Wow! Gorgeous!! Curious if I could get some directions as well?? Just got asked to do my first treasure chest cake, and this is by far one of the nicest I've seen!
Sorry ladies, I just logged in again after a logn time of being off the site and I can't remember if I replied to you or not! So sorry. I made the cake by just stacking up cakes for the bottom then the top I made and shaped on another board / card. Then inserted dowls to support the weight of the lid on both the back and front (longer at the front so you get the distance of it being open. Don't do it too high or it may slide off the back lol). Then stuff your treasures in and secure with royal icing if you have to :)
