This cake was made for a luau theme birthday party. My friend wanted it to be sophisticated and not cartoony. 3 layer 3 tier 10-8-6 square, vanilla cake with strawberry filling, vanilla BC covered in MMF. Decorations are gumpaste hibiscus and brown fondant coconut tree silhouette. To achieve the gradient I started with ligth turquoise fondant for the two bottom tiers. I used a deep turquoise luster dust on the bottom tier. For the top tier I added white fondant to the turquoise to get it even lighter. These are my first gumpaste hibiscus flowers.
