In community album: Birthday Cakes
The only request for this cake was to include gumpaste hibiscus flowers (but not a tropical theme).  I decided to make it more formal and elegant by setting it against damask and pearls.  8", 6", 4" Belgian dark chocolate mud cakes with cream cheese buttercream.

Your hibiscuses are beautiful. Do you have a how to on them? Another question did you use a stencil for the black and whit cakes?

Thanks! I just followed the tutorial on duskyroseveiners.co.uk I used RI for the stencilling.

As this pic was opening I thought to my self: nice, but those are fresh flowers (w/a bit of dissapointment). Soooooo your work is perfect:)

Thanks! This is just my 2nd attempt at stencilling, so I was really nervous since it was black icing on white. I'm very pleased with the result (the stencil is purchased).

I am scared of stenciling, too!!! I tried it once and it was a disaster! To put it mildly, I ruined an otherwise flawless cake! :cry: However, I tried using a homemade stencil... I think that's where I went wrong... anyway, I have cake that requires stenciling this Saturday... I can only PRAY that it turns out as lovely and perfect as this one!
