Farewell Cake

This was a last minute cake that I started the day before my work colleague left. I wasn't sure if I could do two cakes in one week, as I also work, but I was fired with enthusiasm when I finished my nephews cake so gave this a try. Buttercream again with fondant and gumpaste accents. The family that have moved away are English and the sign was originally going to be a hitchhiking sign, but the little figures didn't have enough time to dry so I couldn't get Marty to stand up straight. If I knew he'd be lying down (should have known) I'd have cleaned his mouth out a bit. I learn from every cake I do which is great, but the big lesson from this one was dont try to finish a buttercream cake when you have electricians coming. At the critical time I had no water (let alone hot) as I live in the country on tank water, so the buttercream and placement of figures was a five minute dash then out the door. TFL
