I designed this cake for a sweet friend of mine who was having a very nice 4th of July party at their lake home. She wanted something modern, colorful and that included some kind of firework. This is the design I came up with! I'm super happy with it! It's a 10" round, 6" tall (chocolate cake with mocha SMBC) and 8" round, 2" tall (vanilla cake with sliced strawberries and vanilla bean SMBC) and a 6" round, 6" tall (vanilla cake with sliced strawberries and vanilla bean SMBC). It was on the center table and would be viewed from all sides, so it had to work at all angles. The fireworks are melted chocolate, piped onto crisco covered wax paper, refridgerated, then peeled off carefully and attached to the cake. The red decorations are modeling chocolate.
