In community album: Round Wedding Cakes
I made this 4 tier as part of my demonstration in making a lace look wedding cake. To make the lace, I rolled fondant finely, then used a raised impression mat or you could use a textured rolling pin. Once fondant is textured, I brushed it with super pearl lustre and cut 3 different sized flowers. I then used small round piping tips to cut out the centres of my flowers and also some petals to give a more lacey effect. Then, using royal icing, I piped the centres of all flowers and piped scroll patterns in between the flowers to give a lace effect. Bows were made with the same textured icing and the floral drape was made using a floral mould. The lace edge was made with the same textured icing, but I have used a lace cutter which only cuts the bottom edge, then I used a ruler to cut a straight top edge, I measured from top of lace to bottom tip 3cm. I also used a pasta machine to get an even thickness of icing. I use my pasta machine alot!

This, flat out, is one of the most beautiful cakes I have EVER seen. I love how there is space for the lace to hang down and also the perfect spacing of the other flowers and scrollwork is perfect. Thank you for all the info you included. :o 8O :) :D
