In album: boy
I made this for a baby shower where my daughter teaches 1st grade. The credit for the pattern goes to Amylou who posted her cake pic a couple weeks ago. She posted and the next day I got a plate with the theme which was a clothesline. It was a big hit, thanks Amylou. Anyway since my daughter was putting all the gifts she'd bought into a wicker laundry basket I made a big oval cake and did it in a basket weave, my first attempt, to match her basket. I'm pleased with the result.

The little clothes are rolled fondant and painted with edible coloring, not that I'd ever be tempted to eat them. The icing is all buttercream.

Thanks for the nice compliments. This idea was not mine but something that was posted just two days before I was asked to do this shower cake. I thanked the person who posted her cake pic but sorry I can't remember who it was right now. I loved her idea enough to use it. That's high praise in my book. Thanks again!!

The clothing of the line is so cute! They look like hard work, though! A darling cake!

Thanks! The clothes were pretty easy. I drew the clothes on parchment paper then traced them onto fondant ,cut them out with an exacto knife, let them dry 24 hrs, then painted them with edible cookie markers. I think I coated them with something to seal over the color but can't remember what I used.

Why thank you! I may be doing this one again for a baby boy shower on Sunday. Will probably tort and fill it though to make it go farther.

This cake is so cute! I have been to a couple of showers who used the clothes line theme and this would have been perfect! I am marking it as a favorite for future reference!! :D
