Mac Eyeshadow Cake

I used two 8 inch circle pans for this pans for the cake. After the crumb coat I frosted the sides of the cake first then the top edges. I made a 6inch circle stencil out of wax paper for the center of cake. By idea was build up the frosting on the edges to create depth. I circle template was placed on the crumb frosting and pressed lightly on the edges, I didn't re-frost the center circle. Once I was satisfied with look I sprayed the cake with Wilton black food coloring. I must admit I was kind of disappointed with look because the spray ran and look more of a grayish purple color then black. I ended up using 2 cans of black spray but stopping every 5 minutes to let each coat dry. I took the circle stencil off and placed the left over part of the stencil to cover the edges of cake; meaning when you cut out your circle stencil be cut to use a craft knife or blade. This step was so I could put sanding sugar on the cake but only in the center circle. I piped details on the edges and front of the cake using real MAC eyeshadow as a template. While the cake was baking I made the receipt and MAC logo using butter cream frozen technique (BCFT). If you Google that you will find everything you need to know. The logo and receipt were placed on the top of the cake with a little bit of frosting as glue. This is only my 2nd cake ever and I think it came out pretty good; hope this tutorial helps you out. Good luck!
