Whimical Music Cake

Friend's 8 year old wanted a "singing" cake with lime, purple and orange stripes. ?? This is what I came up with....not particularly happy with it as I haven't quite perfected the topsy-turvy thing, but she loved it. Buttercream with chocolate accents and chocolate "CD" on top.

What are the notes made out of that are attached to the wires? What kind of wire is used ?

Thanks for the comments! The notes are made of dark chocolate with a LOT of black candy colour added. I think it was beading wire that I used - it came on a spool like thread.
