I didnt want to post these into seperate sections. These are the cakes I made for the cubscouts blue and gold dinner in Feb. Bare with me, 4 cakes, double layers, vanilla and chocolate (2 of each). and to add to denseness- each cake was made with 2 boxes of cake each.. So thats 16 cake boxes, 24 eggs, i have no idea how much oil, a TON of buttercream and fondant and very little sanity! The day before this cake was made I had a army tank cake due for another birthday. so these were, i feel, thrown together too quickly. I almost considered tagging these cakes in the cakewreck section of this site. Just to give a quick story of the events that took place Tuesday my husband was asked to get a big cake to feed 40 ppl at the party. So I offered to bake a cake ( being told the party wasnt until NEXT saturday)... weds rolls around, and email is received saying we now have near 60ppl attending... so I said-"ok, i'll plan for 80 just incase,no biggy" Well, then it dawned on me... my husband isnt good with dates (he's just so busy with work, school, and cubscouts) I should email the leader and see when the actual date is... I email.. and sure enough its for THIS WEEKEND.. ( breathe... breathe.... ok.. i got this its just 5 cakes in 3 days.. i can do this) Then thursday..another email.. " we now have 80 guests attending" ( say a few choice words. and again start breathing deeper) " ok, i'll just increase the cake size from 10 inch to 12 inch.. ( 10 inch would have been fine I didnt know about the wilton cuttin sizes by then) so this time I assumed for 120 people, just to be safe... So see, thats why they werent done at the best quality... These 4 cakes plus the tank cake i have on profile are the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th cake I have done since starting this hobby of mine... Incase you're curious.. Mega mario Kart cake was the 1st. But, the good of it- I definately got my practice of covering a cake with MMF in this week! lol
