This cake was a cake I made for my sons friends birthday party. My sons birthday was the week before and at his party they asked me to make their son this cake. I have never made a tank before, seen a tank before or even thought about tanks. So this is what I came up with. This is the second cake I have done to be considered a "novelty" cake. (is it novelty or do they call it something else for children's cake? This cake was made from a 16x9, and 2, 10x10's. All Vanilla cake and buttercream under MMF. I should also point out this is my second time using fondant ( I watched you tube video's on how to make it and cover a cake and this was my 1st time to officially cover the cake with fondant) The cannon is actually edible- made from a oreo straw you buy at the store wrapped around with fondant. The tank is all edible.. the wheels are fondant and needless to say i'm ok with the results of my second cake made from only watching you tube video's! OH, to add to this story this cake was due on a friday.. that saturday I agreed to produce 4 12x12 cakes (double layer) to my sons cubscout pack dinner... so 5 cakes in all that weekend.. I'll be posting those soon too.
