52 Anniversary Cake

This is not traditional for an anniversary cake - but my mom loves birdhouses and flowers - so I went with that. All the decorations, including the birdhouse are of royal icing. The cake is chocolate, with whipped chocolate ganache filling, and white buttercream icing.

This is adorable. Did you make the birds from royal icing as well. Excellent job on the birdhouse.

Thanks, Yes, the birds are from royal icing. I piped the tails and wings first, and when dry stuck them in the newly-piped little bodies.

Just beautiful!! Are the flowers and vines hand painted on the birdhouse? What size pan did you use and how many layers are inside? It's so nice and tall!!! Beautiful work!! In my fav's!!
