I think the trick is to roll the petals paper thin...I use a pasta machine and roll it to the thinest possible, then curl the edges a bit after I soften the edges.
WOW is right! These are the most incredible roses I have ever seen. Did you take instructions on making these? Mine are good...........your's are unbelievable! I agree that they look more real if you roll the paste thin. I've order some Chocopan and want to try to make roses out of it. I understand that you can roll it very thin. Again, WOW!
Thank you for your kind comments...I learned to make the flowers on my own as my Wilton Instructor didn't bother! And you want to use gumpaste for your flowers and not ChocoPan, they'll last longer and will harden faster.
Do you use the standard 3-5-7 Wilton arrangement for the petals? I have never found this to be a very realistic look....at least I can't get them right using this method. Another thing that gives me fits is making the petals the right size compared to the cone. Do you use cutters, or just use a ball of fondant and shape it into a free-form petal?
