In album: tiered
This is a three tiered cake. It was my first attempt at a crooked cake. I made this for my niece's 1st birthday. I put the monkey on the top because my sister always calls her "monkey".

This is beautiful. How did you make those roses? I love them. Also, how is your fondant? I don't like the taste of it and I always pick it off? Any suggestions?

thats what I was thinking, "its not crooked" what is it about these "crooked" or whimsical, cakes that are so popular.... I think they are pretty, but never thought they would be so popular.

The crooked part doesn't show up very well in the photo. It's not quite as crooked as some I've seen, I guess I was a little scared about the stability. The roses are made out of fondant, I seen them in a photo and tried to copy them. You roll the fondant very thin and fold it in half loosely. I then simply rolled it and pinched it in spots. Then pinched off the bottom. Thanks for all your responses. I bought the fondant, sorry can't remember what brand it was. It really doesn't taste that gr...

Thanks for the comments. I have not tried the marshmallow fondant, I was affraid to use it since I've never used ti before and I've only used fondant one other time about 8 years ago. The monkey is fondant, got the idea from this website.

What did you use for the curly things on top? My neice wants a graduation cake with 2005 as the topper and I like the curly wire looking things you have on yours. How did you make them?

Aunt Kathleen, I just loved my birthday cake. Thanks so much for making it. I can't wait to see what you do next year.
