if this is the other side of the black piping cake, how can the cake flavors be different?

@Alfiesmom, It's not the other side of the Black Piped cake, but thanks for looking!

Very nice... Is this a dummy cake? In your other picture (black pipiing cake) I can see a little of the pink from this side.

Hi All, thanks for being curious... Let me explain: I did try the Shabby Chic Cake on the other side of the Black Piping cake, but my fondant was too dry and unfortunately the pink and green stripes cracked.....so I started on a whole new cake and is now planning on airbrush the other side of the Black Piping cake and try something new! With fresh fondant this time!! :D Thanks soooo much for all the nice comments!!

So is the styrofoam flavored with almond and pecan?
maggidup 2/15/11 at 1:12pm
@Jamie, it is a real cake, thats why I included the flavours in the description, I dont like working with dummy cakes, theres always hungry tummies that will enjoy the real cake! :)

Ok, these cakes are gorgeous, and you have mad skills. But you really don't expect anyone to believe these are real cake? For one, the quilting is sharp and deep, and is probably touching the styrofoam undernetah. No one's cake takes that kind of quilting without a small amount (at minimum) of poofing. It is really ok to say they are dummies. We all make them, but there is no need to pass them off as real cake.

Your work is admirable Maggidup! regardless of what flavor, what side or kind of cake it is, you rock!!! :)

Agreed... great decorating. but I'm with Jamie on all counts. No shame in it though.... dummy cakes take JUST as much skill to decorate as real cakes.

I love the cake - who cares if it's real or not! You are very skilled and the collours work really well together :)

would you please give me your technique on such perfect angles. It is impossible for me to get this look with my real cakes. If you could help me out with how you did this I would really appreciate knowing : )

I think the caked is amazing. I also think rude comments should be kept to ourselves!
WhiskMeAwayCakes 2/15/11 at 5:31pm
What does it matter if it's a real cake or dummy cake? Either way the detail is perfect and the cake is gorgeous!
katielb 2/15/11 at 8:20pm

Amazing cake and people should keep negative comments to themselves.
