Sweet 16

Sweet 16 on Cake Central

This design was from Wilton's site - "Taking the Big Step". Client wanted Cerulean Blue as the main color. That's a hard one to match, but I think I dis pretty good. The bow and ribbon were done with the Wilton matt impression and hand colored with a black food color pen - took ALOT longer than I thought it would, but ultimately easier than what Wilton did - filling it with royal icing. Once the cake was all together, I airbrushed it lightly with Pearl Sheen to give it a little extra sparkle. The bow was tough and my first one. I realized too late what I did wrong and know now what to do different next time to get it a bit fuller so you can't see the chocolate holding it all together.

As I walked up to the door to deliver this cake, all I could here inside was, "Oh my God, Oh my God," over and over. When it opened, I saw a HUGE smiling face of a cute 16 year old. She saw me walking up with the cake. I was SOOOOOO relieved that I got the color right. The good news was that when I pulled up in the driveway of her house, I saw letters all over her car announcing her sweet 16 Bday - all of which were in this EXACT color! Yippee. Another satisfied customer!
