This is way to cool when you say crusted do you add powdered sugar to your frosting to make it crust ?

Thanks! I'm sure you could make the head of cake but you'd need to support/dowel it well. This served about 50.

Lisa, I want to thank you for the inspiration. I made the spiderman cake in January and it was a real hit at my nephews bday party. I used the sports ball pan and 2 small round cakes to make the head and neck. My son and I did a little shaping and it turned out great. I posted it on this site. Again, thank you for the inspiration!!

thanks.......turns out my nephew wants venom.......and I saw a pretty cool comic book cover that had spiderman's head on it and half the head was venom and half spidey.....so I think I am going to attempt this cake like that........hopefully it turns out ok (fingers crossed)

I LOVE YOUR CAKE! Could you do the head by using the egg pan & maybe a little trimming to fit together? How many servings did you get without using the head?

well, I did it.....I think it turned out great.......better than I expected. Lisa, thank you so much for the awesome idea, I'm sure my nephew is gonna freak out when he sees it, your instructions on your blog were awesome too, you did a great job!!! Thanks again
