In community album: Round Wedding Cakes
I made this cake for one of my best friends wedding. It is a four tier cake with a candlestick holder as a separator. The flowers and 3-dimensional scrollwork are gumpaste. I really wanted the sugarwork to be freestanding above the cake tiers and it actually worked! Basic white fondant. This is my fourth tiered cake.

This is gorgeous! How did you get enough stability under the candlestick to keep it and the two tiers on it so perfectly upright?

As an artist, I absolutely love this! It's wonderful! I did a cake last year with a separator similar to that but the cake was much bigger. We were all sweating bullets until the cake was finally cut but it was worth it.

This is just.... AMAZING!! The way your scroll work sits above the cake is fantastic! I am totally in love with this cake and I really have to try it myself! Any tips you'd like to share?

I love the scroll work extending beyond the cakes, nice effect. The top part kind of looks like a lampshade to me? very pretty though!

This is an amazing cake! Did you do the scroll work free hand or cricut? Just curious, but either way this is amazing!

They were handcut with a blade. The bottom tier had a circle of wooden dowels that support the second tier. The second tier is a dummy that i put four short bamboo skewers into the bottom of. The skewers help hold it in place, they sink into the bottom tier cake. I drilled holes in the bottom of the candle holder and put four skewers into it also. These sink into the dummy. The top two tiers are sitting an a cake drum that I screwed to the top of the candle holder. The whole thing was remarkably stable, it
