Black & White 20S Flapper Cake

I made this cake as a surprise for my neighbors birthday. White Homemade Marshmallow Fondant and Black Duff Goldman Buttercream Fondant. All of the elements are edible (Fondant + Tylose), including the feathers. Super pearl dust on the name, pearls and the top of the cigarette holder. 6. Chocolate layers & Raspberry filling and Vanilla layers & Cream Cheese filling.

Inspired by mrsmudrash's gorgeous Vintage Scallop Cake.

Amazing!  How did you make the diamond shape design on the bottom of the cake?  My daughters 30th birthday is this Saturday and she wants me to make this cake.  I'm cheating by using black ribbon, real feather top and pearl necklace but I can't recreate that design at the bottom with buttercream.  I know it's fondant so I'm ready to tackle that but I would appreciate your tutorial on how this was made.

Hope to hear from you soon, real soon.

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest. The shapes at the bottom of the cake are not diamonds. I used a flower leaf cutter and arranged in rows. Alternate the direction of the point by row - 1st row to the left, 2nd row to the right, 3rd row to the left, etc.

Happy Birthday to your daughter. She will love your creation.

Axelka,

Thank you for responding so soon.  Did you cut each flower leaf separatly or in a long strip?  I decided I'm taking the easy way out on this one and bought a material that is 2" tall with a diamond type shape and will overlap 3 of them.  It would cost the same amount if I did it with fondant but much faster.  It will look very cute I will just have to take it off before I cut the cake, lol.

Again thank you,

Vivian
