I made this cake for a friends Grandmother's 85th b'day. I was given full creative reign on this cake, only told that her favourite flower were roses, as it is what her husband always bought her. As the family has lost their grandfather a short time ago, i made the gold rose the largest to represent him, the burgandy one for the grandmother, the 3 dusty pink for their 3 children, the 7white for their grandchildren and the 5 red for their great grandchildren! The party was today and I have received quite a few compliments for the sentiment i have weaved into their cake requirement. Additionally, this is the first time i have ever made sugar roses!! I was shown at my cake class once but i couldn't get the hang of it so figured I'd wait until i had an authentic source of motivation to try it again! I am happier with some more than others of course, but with time I'm hoping to improve!
