In community album: Chanukah
I know I am not the first person to discover this technique, but I thought I would share this anyway. I wanted to make "glass tiles" for a Hanukkah menorah. First I made a mold out of tin foil. I kind of squished it together to make something that looked like squares. I sprayed the tin foil lightly with oil. Then I smashed up the jolly ranchers and put the bits in the tin foil. I melted them in my toaster oven on 300 degrees for approx. 4 - 5 minutes. WATCH CAREFULLY - if they heat up too much they will turn a nasty color! Remove carefully and let them cool (I popped them in the freezer). Then I gently removed them. They look more like mosaic than actual tile, but I'm pretty happy with the result. I've posted pictures for you to see the steps.

Wow! Thanks for posting the pics of How-to! I LOVE it when people are kind enough to take the time to do that. Lovely menorah cake.
