Go Diego Go! Cake
This is the cake I made for my daughter's 3rd birthday. It was the first time I had used fondant and I think it turned out pretty well. The cakes are coated in buttercream and the board is covered in fondant as well. Sorry about the ugly workboard I had to make last minute structural renforcements my tree was a little top heavy.
How cute! Great job!
Very cool!!
I love your monkeys!
Cool cake. Love your monkeys too!
My 3yo daughter just saw this and she says it's 'impredibo' (incredible, LOL) Great job!
Very cute!!
this is great!! how did you make the tree? is it cake?
Thank you all for the kind words! The tree is fondant. The trunk is a plastic dowel rod covered in fondant I carved bark lines with a tooth pick. For the canopy I took foil over an upside down bowl & made a tree top shape, put plastic wrap over it so it didn't poke holes in the fondant & draped the fondant over the foil smoothed it and let it dry. I used fodant and vanilla to stick the canopy to the trunk. A wooden dowel & some BC is inside the plastic one and is screwed to the board for support.
