what did you use for your rope?

I used Bamboo Skewers soaked in red food coloring to make the rope. The top cake is a dummy and the bottom cake is real cake.

was this a recipe you found somewhere? i've never made a cake, other than a regular one lol, and i'd love to do this for my son's 5th birthday!
