This is my first attempt with fondant. Being very new to baking, I just used a mix for the cake itself, then tried my hand at making fondant from scratch . The roses turned out great, but the fondant cover for the cake was a bit on the dry side and had a leathery look to it upon closer inspection. But being my first time at cake decorating, I was just happy just to get it on the cake at all! :) But apart from the imperfections, I was happy at how my first cake turned out. Especially as I just made it with a wooden spoon (no mixer!) and a plastic sandwich bag for the piping. :)
