Like HobbyCaker, my mouth was watering reading the description too! :D That cake looks sooo tall!! How is the pillar not digging into the cake? Did you put dowels for support? I am in awe!! xo

Gorgeous, but I too would like to know how you stabilized it.

Thank you all!! The bottom tier had very thick dowels; the second from the bottom had thick dowels that were very particularly measured and placed where the rim of the pillar hit. Then I doweled the two together. Also, the bottom half of the double cakes were doweled. I never used a level as much as for this cake!!

Your cake is beautiful! Where did you get the brooch for the bow?
babysteps22 10/20/10 at 4:42am
The bride provided the brooches, and I'm pretty sure she had ordered them online...

Love it. When you do a double height tier, how is it cut?
babysteps22 10/20/10 at 11:33am
Not sure what others do, but I covered the top of each of the double barrel bottom halves with fondant and advised they cut a circle around the perimeter to separate the two cakes, then cut as usual. :)
