I loved eatCakes' litItle owl and couldn't wait to make some myself. My children are turning 1 & 3 on the same day, so one owl is for each of them and the nest is for everyone else at their birthday party. I made a big mistake in carving the nest cake, though... I tried to round it off at the bottom and now it's cracking on all sides... glad it's just for my family. Next time I would just leave the cake without carving. I think it would still look like a nest. Owls decorated with MMF and nest "sticks" are gumpaste.

Birthday Owlets!

Thanks everyone! Cakemoma1, I made the owls using the wilton jumbo muffin pan. Each owl is two "muffin" cakes.

nests aren't perfect so it goes with the cake that it is falling apart a lil! ;)
