In album: soccer-ball
This is a simple soccer ball that I made for my daughter's team for their end of the season party. It was yellow cake with buttercream icing.

Thanks, I am glad it made it to the party. I cut off the bottom and put a dowel in it but I was still afraid it would roll into the side of my cake tote.

how did you get that round cake to be cooked all the way thru in the middle? I made a soccer cake before (the wilton soccer pan) and the outsides burnt and the inside wasn't done.

This was made using the sports ball half round pans. I reduced the temp in my oven and cooked it a little longer. Also, you can put a flower nail in each pan to act as a heating core. You can use both these methods with any pan, just grease the flower nail like you do the pan and it won't stick. Some people use the Wilton core instead of the flower. I hope that helps ya!

any suggestions on how to get it so perfectly round? every time I've made one, it never looks round.
