This is somewhat patterned after the cakelava cake from Cake Central's September magazine. The disaster happened when I realized that the more I piped, the more translucent my white frosting got. I think it was caused by my hands warming the piping bag. I tried to blend the stark white part around the satin-stitched letters in with the rest of the cake by making it look like a name banner draped across the cake. Obviously, that just made it worse!
