ok...  trying to duplicate the cowboyhat cake here..Can't seem to get the top right,  had to make a seam in the top where it meets the sides and the brim is rough but I'm getting there!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself! I've never even tried to make a cake that needs to be shaped/carved, so any of them look fantastic to me! And this is no exception.

it turned out good!!...the curl came out of my brim almost immediatly then it cracked...so give yourself a pat on the back

Hey guys...just a note..I just did another one. It works best if you do MMF & prepared gumpaste with a 2 to 3 ratio more MMF. My second brim I did out of Wiltons premade......it wouldnt dry and then it broke in a trillion pieces...the MMF + gumpaste worked the best. just FYI...

I think that you did a great job. I did a cowboy hat for the first time too and I dried my brim with a fan for a full day and chilled the cake really well before assembly. I used all fondant and it turned out ok. Keep up the good work.
