Wow! Do not let this people change who you are, there are bad and ungrateful people everywhere that think it's "owed to them" but there are good and appreciative ones that would LOVE to have something like that!. Keep on keeping on!

I think it looks great. I also made a cake from the goodness of my heart. When I delivered the baby shower cake she was very ungrateful. Keep your head up and keep on caking.
