Snowflake Cake

Snowflake Cake on Cake Central

White cake, buttercream icing tinted a pale blue, MMF snowflakes dusted with luster dust and the whole thing sprinkled with edible glitter to give it a frosty look.

The snowflakes were made from MMF using some snowflake cutters I bought at a local decorating supply store. They come in a tin box with three different sizes of snowflakes and two little cutters to cut out the insides in whatever pattern you choose. I was glad to see that it also came with some examples because I wasn't sure what to do at first. This cake was one of the easiest I've ever done, yet got one of the biggest reactions. Isn't that always the way?

I'm so glad you posted this! I have to make a snowflake cake tonight but in pink buttercream. I was wondering how do I get the sparkles on the sides of the cake without messing up the bc. Do you have any pointers?

I just sort of tilted the cake a little (it was on a plate so no danger of the board bending) and sprinkled them on right out of the little shaker they come in. I was surprised that they stuck as well as they did because my icing was pretty well set up. I think this would be really cool on a pink cake! Good luck!
