Awesome and so realistic, I love it!!! is the fish cake too? how did you make the eye?? thanks!!

I'm glad you like it, Rosie2. :) Yes, the fish is also chocolate cake carved and covered with fondant. For the eye, I used small round cookie cutters to mark the circles (but do it with a little different angle to make it realistic), and the back of the sculpting tool (with rounded end) to make a little indentation at the center, and then a flatened small black fondant ball for the eyeball. Hope that helps. :)

One of my all-time favorites! We have a taxidermy business and this looks incredibly real! Fantastic job on the fish coloration, etc. Bravo! Bravo! :D

Did you use one of those roller tools with the fish scales on it? We use those as well in the studio. They come in several sizes. Very handy! (Thiink they are called Mac-Z Fish Scalers))

Thanks for the compliments, myersark. I did really "stare at" so many striped bass photos for quite a long time before I started making this fish cake. I used a plastic texture sheet for the scales. I wish I knew about the Mac-Z Fish Scalers, it might have been a lot easier if I had that. :D Thanks a lot to let me know. :)
