Guinea Pig Cake

This is super cute! I actually just posted a question in the How Do I forum about how to make a guinea pig cake for my friend's birthday (she has 6 pigs who are super adorable). Could you please share what type of frosting/consistency you used as well as your technique in applying it to look furry? Did you do a base layer then brush on layers of colored "fur" or pipe the colors in the general areas they belonged then smooth and texture with a brush? Thanks!
