It looked better in person, but when trying to find ideas to make a 3D crow, I came up short, so I wanted to share mine. It was surprisingly easy! It's carved and covered in fondant.
This is very nice and you did a wonderful job! What cake pan(s) did you use? I would like to do a 3D crow cake in a couple of weeks and haven't decided how to put it together yet.
Thanks! I used round cake pans. I don't remember the sizes. But, what i did was draw the shape I wanted the crow to be, then drew in what I thought would be the right pans. That told me how many I needed, how I needed to stack them (the top, smaller pans were to the side and hanging off a little so the head was more forward) and then I sculpted away what needed to be based on the picture. HTH!
Thank you for responding. I will try your suggestion. I bought a Wilton 3D Easter bunny cake pan that I thought I would carve, but I like your idea better. I'm thinking of making a red velvet cake so it will have an interesting effect when cut! If mine turns out HALF as nice as yours, I'll post a picture! :D
