Beautiful cake!! Can you explain what kind of support the dowels have that keep the upper layer from slipping?

Thank you for all of the great comments! For support on the bottom tier, the center dowel is 1/2" thick and is drilled and screwed into the bottom board and the second tier board. Both boards are 1/2 inch thick. The second tier (8") was put on onsite. The top tier is RKT and is also supported by 1/2" thick board. We drilled four holes into that support board and hammered the dowels in so they were a tight fit. The RK big top was also put on onsite. Hope that answers everyone's questions!
