This is a gumpaste figurine I made for a young girl's cake. It was my first attempt at figurines and it was very satisfying, though took a long time. It sat on top of a very pretty pink cake with swags and roses. You could spin the ballerina on the little base, so it had the feel of an old fashioned jewelry box.

It is absolutely stunning! Great idea to make the figure spining! Did you buy the spinning base or you made it? Also, may I ask what is her hair maid of? For a first attempt at figures you have done an amazing job!!! Extremely talanted

You have such talent! For your first or 50th figure, it is beautiful!!

Thank you so much for all the lovely compliments. I used royal icing for her hair. It was so much fun to dress her up and giver her a cute little up-do. The spinning was quite by accident. I didn't glue the base of the figurine onto the cake, because I wanted the little girl to take it off to keep... and, it just spun!!

Very beautiful! How did you do the writing on the cake board?
misslaz 7/13/10 at 8:19pm
I used cutters from FMM, also known as 'tap-its' for the lettering
