Name Blocks

Marble cake with buttercreme icing...This was my first time making blocks and I thought "how hard can it be"...lesson learned. I had so much trouble making them perfectly square, while icing them the corners just wouldn't stay nice. Then the fondant...ugh! It was starting to get so warm out that it would just slide down the sides. I had to keep putting them in the fridge to set :( After making all the individual cakes where made I started stacking, I used bubble straws and was going to go 1, 2, 3 layer but the weight or the second layer started crushing the block in the middle. This was my nightmare cake...I learned a lot and will try to do blocks again but just as a trial run to see if I can fix my mistakes. How else can a person get better right?
