In community album: 2010 Nautical / Sailing Cake Contest
This cake was made for my grandfather's 70th birthday party on the 4th of July! He is retired Coast Guard so the cake had to be nautical and patriotic! The cake is even on an old Yorktown Coast Guard cafeteria tray! Cake is 10" oreo cake, 8" single layer chocolate, and 6" strawberry. Decor is gumpast (sails/ anchor/ life saver/ and waves), the rest is fondant and buttercream. All edible except for the dowel covered in gum poste making up the pole of the sail (sorry, not sure of the tecnical term).
