This is Gingy from the new Shrek movie. I decorated the cakeboard to look like the trowel he is standing on in the movie. Gingy is entirely cake- WASC with a modified Vanilla IMBC, covered in fondant. This was a graduation gift for a friend's daughter. She and her three closest friends went to see the movie and arrived home to this cake as a surprise.

What a great job how did you manage to get him to stay standing?

I used a wooden board for the base and attached L brackets, that had been hammered to about 80 degrees. Then I attached Gingy's cakeboard to an identical wooden shape and attached that to the upright of the L bracket.

I'm impressed...how does he defy gravity with his arms in the air and without support? At first I thought it was a very large gingerbread cookie (no pun intended since that is gingy's heritage)

He has internal support. If you can imagine away the fondant, you would see layers of cake, with cardboard every three inches and Wilton plastic lollipops (cut to size) to bear the weight.
